This is how Sweden’s most dangerous women live – a day at the Hinseberg prison

Johanna Jansson, formerly Johanna Leshem Jansson, had her sentence reduced from life to 16 years in prison by the Göta Court of Appeal. Now the 20-year-old will serve her sentence, and in Sweden there are two institutions where she will probably be placed: Hinseberg outside Örebro or Ystad.

Since before, Johanna Jansson has been detained at Hinseberg, and it is also where long-term sentenced women (at least four years) often sit during the investigation when it is decided where the sentence will be served.

At Hinseberg’s institution, there are six wards with room for 122 inmates serving sentences ranging from two weeks to life imprisonment.
