In addition to the above-mentioned conflict, Majid is suspected of a number of other crimes. Among other things, he is in custody in his absence for at least three counts of inciting a particularly serious drug crime and one count of preparation for murder.
Right now he is apparently in Turkey. He is internationally wanted by Interpool, but despite that, Turkey refuses to extradite him to Sweden, because he has obtained citizenship in the country.
– What is a little strange is that he became a Turkish citizen while he was arrested. He is not that from the beginning, says Jens Lapidus.
Majid does not come from Turkey, but obtained his citizenship in another way.
– In Turkey they have a system where you can pay for membership, approximately SEK 4 million. Then you are not left out. Turkey does not want to change this because there are many people who for various reasons want to become citizens there and then the whole system falls with this money coming in.
However, Majid was never convicted of any crime in Turkey.
– There is no more serious crime he has committed in Turkey, as far as we know at the moment.
There are several ways
According to Jens Lapidus, there are ways to bring Majid to justice. But it won’t be easy.
– The first thing that was hoped for was that Turkey will extradite Majid to Sweden. But it doesn’t seem to work. Neither does Sweden. It is quite natural. We outsource to the Nordic countries, the EU and possibly Great Britain. But no other countries either. Here you can’t buy a membership for a week while you’re under arrest. This variant is probably quite run now.
Exchange possible
However, there may be people in custody here in Sweden who are of interest to Turkey. Then a change may become possible. Or cow trading as Lapidus calls it.
– Then Turkey can deviate from its principle of not leaving out citizens. But I think it looks dark. That cow trade will probably take place within the framework of the NATO process.
Then he can be released
There is also another possibility. It is that the prosecution is transferred to Turkish police and Turkish prosecutors who prosecute him on the spot in Turkey.
He draws parallels to another person 15 years ago. The person was Denho Acar who was the leader of the Original Gangsters at the time.
– He went to Turkey, became a citizen and was therefore not extradited. What happened there was that he was prosecuted in Turkey. Among other things, for crimes he has committed in Sweden.
The last possibility is if Majid were to leave the country. Then there is the possibility that Sweden could find out about it and be able to request his extradition from another country where he is not a citizen.
– I don’t exactly know Rawa, but this type of guy doesn’t like to sit still. They get bored and they have their friends and family in Sweden, so it’s not impossible.
Lapidus does not believe that Majid will be extradited to Sweden.
– If he is brought to justice, I think it will happen in Turkey.
