Taylor Swift fans from all over the world are drawn to Stockholm next weekend when the artist takes over the Friends Arena with her popular concert tour The Eras Tour.
With that, the prices of the nearly 40,000 hotel rooms in the county have been pushed up – at the same time that more and more private individuals rent out their homes.
– Many people who live in Stockholm choose to go away during this time to bring in some extra money, says Isabelle Purits, Qasa communications manager.
The fact that Taylor Swift fans, who call themselves “Swifties”, flock to Stockholm next weekend does not just mean a jingle in the coffers for the hotels in the capital, as the approximately 40,000 hotel rooms in the county quickly fill up and prices are pushed up. More and more private individuals are now getting into the game – and renting out their homes to visitors.
– We see a very clear Swift effect on the rental market in Stockholm with 35 percent more ads for this weekend, says Isabelle Purits, communications manager at the rental site Qasa.
– It is understood that many people who live in, for example, Solna and Sundbyberg choose to go away during this time to bring in some extra money.
120,000 visitors
Anyone who wants to book a hotel room in Stockholm for the coming weekend must be prepared to spend anything from over SEK 3,000 to SEK 8,000 for one night in a double room at several large hotel chains.
It is estimated that around 120,000 concertgoers will come from places other than Stockholm. But if you want to rent out your apartment, it is important to keep track of which rules apply, according to Purits.
– It is very important that you check what a tenancy association or landlord has for rental policy so that you simply ask the board the question. Is it okay for me to rent out my home?
According to her, there is also always a risk that the tenant causes damage or something else unexpected happens.
– We always recommend that you take account of such things by, for example, setting up an inventory list, that you are insured and simply also have a dialogue with your condominium association, says Purits.
