HELSINKI. The Dallas Stars practiced for the first time during their visit to Finland on Tuesday morning at the Herttoniemi ice rink.
After a long journey, the vigorous training of about an hour started the preparation for the weekend matches against Florida. The matches will be played on Friday and Saturday in Tampere.
Along with training, the trip to Finland is an important time for the teams in terms of building a team spirit. The Finns naturally act as tour guides for the American and Canadian players on a more exotic trip.
Finnish traditional delicacies, landscapes and sauna experiences will naturally become familiar to everyone.
– It’s nice to show everyone the places and things we usually do here. Everyone seemed to like it, it was really nice, Dallas Roope Hintz stated.
Important program number
Hintz himself had one important event on his schedule after Tuesday’s practice, namely a visit to the New Children’s Hospital in Helsinki.
In addition to the center forward, the children at the hospital were cheered up by the Dallas mascot, among others. Hintz was more than happy to visit the little people.
– This is a big part of our story, so giving back. It’s always special to be able to spend time with them and get to talk. This is what I want to do. When I was little, I looked up to some people myself, and now I’m in a position to give back, Hintz says.
At the children’s hospital, the atmosphere was warm and there was joy on both sides.
– It’s always nice to see children’s expressions and joy. I definitely want to be good for them. Sometimes all it takes is a little nice conversation to save the day. Nothing more special than that.
Charity with a shoe model
Visiting the new children’s hospital was not the Tampere attacker’s only way to give back. Hintz, who is interested in fashion, has launched his own shoe model.
The blue and white “sneakers” bearing the Finnish flag are designed by the player himself. In the background was the idea of a national team tournament colored by NHL stars, also played in winter.
Part of the income from the shoes will be donated to SOS Lapsikylä’s “Dreams come true” project, which supports the exercise of underprivileged children.
– This was a project we have done in the summer, and now we were finally able to bring them to the market. I think the shoes look good and this has been a neat thing in every way, Hintz tasted.
Fashion conscious
Fashion and clothes are important to Hintz, who is otherwise known for his dressing.
– I have always been interested in clothes, shoes and so on. I think carefully about what I wear at any time. It’s a big part of me.
In the NHL, the new generation of players have begun to invest more and more in clothes, and in recent years the corridors of the halls have become some kind of “catwalks”.
Players who come to matches in more expensive and flashier suits are increasingly highlighted in the media as well.
Hintz has carefully considered his selection for the current week and weekend matches as well.
– I usually want different clothes for every day. However, it is not always possible if you only have one suitcase with you. Now we’re only on the road for a couple of games, so it worked out.
– I think carefully about what kind I wear and what goes with what. However, there is no special costume for this trip.
Hintz admits that sometimes too much time is spent thinking about the appearance.
– Sometimes it goes over, but I try not to stress about it.
Dallas has started their season well by winning seven of nine games, Florida seven of eleven.
Hintz has scored 4+4 in nine matches. Florida and Dallas meet in Tampere on Friday at 20:00 and Saturday at 18:00.
