This is how our Swedish royals celebrate the national day

National Day is a busy day for our royals.
For the king and queen, it’s candy rain in Pajala and for the crown princess it’s boogie woogie in Sörmland’s Nykvarn – then they gather in Stockholm for the procession.
– The Royal Palace is a strong national symbol and on a day like National Day, I understand that they work hard, says Titti Schultz.

This year, royal splendor is being spread far north in Sweden on National Day. The king and queen will go all the way to northern Pajala, where the king will give a celebratory speech.

– But I still think that what stands out there is that it will be raining candy. And then I kind of wonder how the king and queen will be involved in it, if they also get to join and try to catch and so on, says Titti Schultz, presenter of the royal podcast Monarkerna.

Boogie woogie and Elivs

Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel visit Sörmland’s Nykvarn.

– In the square there is boogie woogie dancing today and an Elvis impersonator. And I can say that nothing says Swedish National Day like an Elvis impersonator? says Titti Schultz in Nyhetsmorgon.

Prince Carl Philip remains in the capital and visits the changing of the guard at Stockholm Palace.

The castle is open just like any other day, but the venture “Open castle”, where the inner castle yard was opened up to visitors, is canceled this year due to savings.

Then you follow the cortege

Later today, the royals meet in the capital and go in procession from the castle to Skansen. Titti Schultz has tips on where to stand to best catch a glimpse of the royalty.

– I think you can stand at the Royal Opera House, it’s also a nice environment. On Strandvägen, there is a lot of length to spread out. I don’t think it will be triple ranks, but it will still be a bunch. The weather was nice in Stockholm today.

Steffo: It is difficult to gain height. There are no lookout towers directly?

– No, but you can look for the small park benches that are available. Or have a picnic at Djurgården, it’s also very nice to be there.
