Bacteria traps during the summer
News24 have previously written about various bacterial traps to watch out for during the summer. One of these is legionella bacteria, which can be found in water and potting soil. These bacteria are not dangerous for everyone, but can cause pneumonia for certain groups such as the elderly, which in turn may need to be treated in hospital.
Regarding towels, says the cleaning expert Marlene Eriksson in an interview with Aftonbladet Livsstil that the vast majority of people wash their towels far too rarely.
One way to find out if a towel needs washing is by smelling it – if it smells sour, it’s definitely ready for the washing machine. Once in the washing machine, she recommends washing the towels at 90 degrees.
