Now is the time for crayfish slices all over Sweden. But in connection with the celebration of this delicate tradition, it is noted that seafood prices have skyrocketed.
According to Statistics Norway, seafood prices have increased by up to 30 percent since 2021, and other products that are usually part of the crayfish platter have also become significantly more expensive.

The cost of this year’s cancer disc
During late summer and early autumn, it is tradition in Sweden to hold crayfish platters, where many people look forward to enjoying crayfish and other shellfish. But this year, these festivities can be felt extra heavily in the wallet.
In the month of July, a price increase of 3.6 percent was noted for seafood compared to the same period last year. The price of fresh Swedish crayfish has increased by 8 percent, while fresh Turkish crayfish have become between 11 and 33 percent more expensive, according to the newspaper.
For frozen crayfish, the price rise has been more limited. Some varieties have kept the same price as last year, while others have increased by up to 2.7 percent.

However, it is not only seafood that has become more expensive in the face of the crayfish disc. For example, the price of potatoes has risen by 36.4 percent compared to last year.
