This is how much the war has cost you: “That group is most affected”

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

Putin’s war in Ukraine has hit the world economy hard. For Swedish households, this means thousands of kroner less to spend every month, according to the big banks’ estimates.

– Families with two children were the group most affected when the war broke out. We saw that energy prices rose across the board. It trickled down to fuel prices and the food box, which became more and more expensive, says Américo Fernández, private economist at SEB.

If the war effect is between 30 and 50 percent, SEB’s estimates of the households’ “war costs” land between SEK 2,500 and 4,100 per month, notes Fernández.

– If we look towards 2023, the harsh truth is probably that many households will feel that it will get tougher before it gets better, says the private economist in conclusion.
