At Systembolaget, sales are in full swing.
Earlier in August, the Swedish whiskey manufacturer Mackmyra came out with the news that they are going bankrupt. As a result, there was an onslaught of customers to the country’s various System companies where customers were looking to get hold of the last Mackmyra bottles.
The company’s bankruptcy trustee is happy about the rising sales and for News24 she says that she hopes for a sale of Mackmyra.
– We now have a sales process underway and have drawn up a tender document. We hope and believe in a sale of the movement, told Emma Berglund Uväng when.

Most expensive bottle in Systembolaget’s history sold
But Systembolaget hasn’t just pulled in a little extra money because of Mackmyra – the most expensive spirit ever from the state-owned company was sold in those days.
– This bottle is the most expensive that has been sold at Systembolaget, says Teodor Almqvistpress officer at Systembolaget, to Nyheter24.
It is a bottle called “The Macallan: Red Collection 60 Years”. The bottle contains 700 milliliters of malt whiskey from Scotland and has an alcohol content of 43.4 percent.
The drink is no longer available on Systembolaget’s website, but there you can read that “the drink may be available in stores if there is local demand”. At the time of writing, the product is not available at any of Systembolaget’s stores.

Whether it will be available for sale on Systembolaget’s website again is unclear. According to Almqvist, “The Macallan” is not selected by Systembolaget, but has been listed in the order range by the supplier who goes by the name Edrington Sweden AB.
The price for the most expensive spirit in Systembolaget’s history landed at SEK 1,280,000. So 1,828,571 kroner per litre.
Despite the price, it wouldn’t be long before the bottle sold out.
– It was sold sometime before lunch on the same day it became available for purchase, says Almqvist.
