This is how mother Isabell supports her son after the murder of Mikael, 39

It has been just over a week since 39-year-old Mikael was shot dead in front of his twelve-year-old son in Skärholmen.
For the first time, the boy’s mother Isabell is now talking about how the incident has affected the family.
– We feel incredible support, she tells TV4 Nyheterna.

39-year-old Mikael and his twelve-year-old son were on their way to the bath house in Skärholmen on Wednesday evening last week. In an underpass, Mikael stopped and reprimanded some young people, whereupon he was shot dead in front of the boy.

– What hurts me the most is the thought of this image that my son will have with him for the rest of his life, because he was there and saw all this. That it will follow him. It’s terrible, says Isabell.

“He gets to feel exactly as he wants”

Isabell says that the family has received a lot of support after the incident, and that her son has received help to deal with what he has been through.

– We explain to him that he can feel exactly as he wants. There is no right and wrong. He may be angry, he may be sad. He gets to be everything.

The act has caused great sadness and consternation, but also commitment. After the murder, people gathered at the scene and lit candles and left flowers.

– It is incredibly nice to see people open their hearts and show love and care in difficult times. So we are incredibly grateful, says Isabell.

Mikael lived for his son – stood up for what is right

On social media, two different initiatives by former Member of Parliament Hanif Bali and debater Mustafa Panshiri have collected over 2.6 million kroner for the family.

– I think mainly about my son’s future and how this will help him. Even if we won’t get Mikael back, you can still find some hope in a better future for my son.

Isabell describes Mikael as a man who lived for his son and who stood up for what was right.

– He leaves behind a great void. Mikael loved his son and he lived for his son. He was a role model, he wanted to show his son the right path in life. He will be incredibly missed.
