This is how Marabou’s new, “hated” chocolate tastes

This is how Marabous new hated chocolate tastes

It was last week that Marabou announced that they will soon release a brand new summer flavor. They have named the chocolate cake “Movienight” and the taste is nothing less than digestive and coffee.

Many thought the taste sounded good – but the name in combination with the taste, many consumers had a problem with that.

Marabou’s new flavor is called “Movienight” and is a mix of digestive and coffee.

And the reactions could not be expected:

“It sounded good. But strange name for that flavor in my opinion”

“Yes, afternoon coffee would have been more appropriate”

“Yeah, it didn’t sound so cheesy”

“Should it be called Swedish coffee?”

“What kind of goddamn workshop is it when someone gets such a lousy idea that no one stops? Who the hell watches movies and eats digestives with coffee? No one who has any friends anyway”.

Probably because the name may not have much to do with coffee and digestives. But to the big question:

What does chocolate actually taste like?

News24 sampled the new “Movienight” and you can safely say that there were scattered showers.

The reviews:

The coffee flavor is too sweet and the digestive biscuits too crumbly. The whole lacks crispness and saltiness, and you are instead left with a gritty mix in your mouth. A coffee croissant (think orange croissant, but with the taste of coffee) would have done better. And who actually eats digestive biscuits on a movie night?

Rating: 2/5

Marabou Movie Night is a new favorite. It is crunchy and lovely to chew on, and the coffee flavor has good pressure that lingers long after. I hope this one stays in their regular range, because it really is as yummy and not too gooey as many of their other chocolate bars can be, probably thanks to the coffee flavor.

The best news in a long time. Good coffee pressure that neither takes over nor becomes too pale, perfect balance. Crunch from diggestive makes it really tasty.

Rating 5/5

Definitely great if you are a coffee drinker. But as a non-coffee drinker, I couldn’t have imagined anything worse.

This IS a good chocolate. Digestive, coffee and chocolate is a flavor combo that all adults should appreciate. The tip here is to eat the chocolate at room temperature together with a glass of milk (unless you want to have coffee).

Rating 3/5

The chocolate cake will be available at Home Night from week 30 and in regular stores from week 35.
