This is how fraudsters try to trick them into receiving electricity subsidies

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

With just over a week left until the payments of the electricity subsidy begin, Försäkringskassan reports that fraud attempts are already underway.

According to the authority, it is both about people being called and receiving emails and letters, from senders pretending to be the Social Insurance Agency.

In the conversations, the callers have claimed, among other things, that the customers’ data needs to be protected, and wanted to charge for it. In e-mails and letters, fraudsters have, among other things, asked for account details.

According to Social Insurance Minister Anna Tenje, the government has also received several indications that fraud attempts around the electricity subsidy have increased, information that comes from both authorities and banks.

– There are 16-17 billion to be paid out, so there is a concern that many will seize the opportunity and try to take advantage of the situation. We want to do what we can to curb and limit this type of crime. Then it’s about going out with the right information and spreading it as widely as possible, she tells TT.

According to Anna Tenje, these are criminal gangs that target particularly vulnerable groups.
