Tom Holland is now part of the Marvel greats and will soon be in front of the camera for his fourth Spider-Man film. However, after making his debut as the friendly neighborhood spider in The First Avenger: Civil War, he had to contend with the backlash of a comic book legend.
So Tom Holland was allowed to join us at his first meeting Comic author and Marvel legend Stan Lee has a pretty rude saying listen, which would have seriously undermined the young actor’s self-confidence – if Lee had actually been serious.
Stan Lee welcomed Tom Holland into the MCU with taunts
As explained in the book MCU: The Reign of Marvel Studios, Stan Lee was called to the filming of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 in 2016 to make three cameo appearances for future MCU films. The aim was to save the then 93-year-old from repeated strenuous journeys. Director James Gunn was also given the opportunity to shoot Lee’s cameo in Spider-Man: Homecoming, in which the comic book author and the newly minted Spider-Man star met faced each other for the first time.

Stan Lee was actually extremely impressed by Tom Holland
As James Gunn revealed during a Q&A in 2020, Lee’s saying caused thunderous laughter from everyone present at that moment. So it should actually be just a joke from the Marvel legend have acted. At the premiere of Spider-Man: Far From Home, Tom Holland later explained to The Real Stan Lee that the author invited Holland and his best friend to dinner that same evening:
I was worried about asking him too many Marvel questions because I thought he wouldn’t want to talk about it. But he gave me 45 minutes the complete story of Spider-Man told and that just shows how much love and passion went into these stories and books.
