“This is depressing” – Pokémon GO upsets trainers with Environment Week

Environment Week is running again in Pokémon GO this year, but it’s already causing trouble for the trainers. We have summarized what content the event has in store for you and why players find it depressing here on MeinMMO.

What event is it about? Every year Pokémon GO organizes an environmental week in the form of a themed event. There will be one again in 2024, as the developers announced on their Pokémon GO blog on the evening of April 16, 2024.

Compared to previous years, the content of the event this year looks rather clear, because trainers wait in vain for special wild spawns or new Pokémon. This is already causing a lot of trouble in the Reddit community. We’ll show you which spawns and bonuses the environmental week has in store for you and what annoys the players.

When is the event running? Environment Week starts on April 22, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. local time and will be active until April 26, 2024 at 8:00 p.m. local time.

All spawns and bonuses for Environment Week at a glance

These Pokémon await you: During Environment Week, the contents of the 2 km eggs in Pokémon GO will be thematically adapted. So you can get the following monsters from the eggs you get during this time:

  • Wadribie*
  • Rotomurf*
  • rubbish*
  • camouflage pigion*
  • Bithora*
  • With a bit of luck you can also get this as a shiny

receive. To this end, Niantic has increased the Shiny chances for the Pokémon from 2 km eggs. Are there more spawns?

No, as of now there will be no special wild spawns. The raids also remain unchanged. What bonuses are there?

  • The bonuses during Environment Week are all about your buddy Pokémon. But one or two quests will also be found. The following content awaits you:
  • more frequent souvenirs and gifts from your buddy
  • Buddy Pokémon stay on the map longer after being fed
  • half running distance to earn hearts with your buddy
  • Increased shiny chance for 2km eggs
  • Event field research
  • Encounter with Wadribie*, Rotomurf*, Unratütox*, Bithora* and Tarnpignon*
  • Collector Challenge
  • Reward: Stardust and XP
  • Showcases with event Pokémon at select PokéStops

Coaches are angry: then what’s the point of playing outside? Trainers criticize missing spawns:

However, the content about the planned event is not well received at all in the Reddit community. The reason for this is the lack of wild spawns. If you look back at the environmental weeks of the past few years, they have always been an integral part.

Even new Pokémon were regularly brought into play in this event format. But there is no sign of that this year either. The upcoming collector challenge is particularly causing some headaches.

  • From their point of view, if there are no wild event spawns, that can only mean that you have to hatch the Pokémon to solve the quest. But this is exactly what hasn’t worked particularly well at other events in the past and led to a lot of frustration among the players. You can read the following comments on Reddit about the event:
  • taixun4532: This is depressing and disappointing. And I’m not surprised.
  • FatalisticFeline-47: Since there are no wild spawns, but a collector challenge is announced, I *hope* we don’t get an egg challenge… Last time was miserable.
  • JonnyCerberus: Excuse me? No event spawns? Then what’s the point of playing outside anyway? Why can’t we have event spawns AND eggs? Terrible non-event spawns will NOT make me take a detour after work to play more.

Trainers hope for a rediscover event Could there still be spawns?

There still seems to be a glimmer of hope for event spawns, as Niantic has also announced a special Kanto milestone for April 22nd as part of their big update announcement.

The developers have planned some innovations regarding the graphics, biomes and the AR mode in the coming days. One of these points stipulates that Kanto should be rediscovered. Since these new changes were announced, trainers have been wondering whether this could possibly be another Kanto event.

  • Even if nothing concrete has been confirmed by the developers in this regard, some trainers are now hoping for corresponding spawns that are related to the collector challenge. You can read the following on Reddit:
  • Mettbr0etchen: Probably because of the “Rediscover Kanto” spawns and the new way spawns are supposed to work in general (specific biomes). Let’s see if it works. At the moment this event is definitely looking tenuous.
  • repo_sado: For some reason this and the Kanto event are happening at the same time, so the Kanto event contains the spawns while this event contains the research and eggs.
  • Chugoldenboy: I imagine there are no spawns because the Kanto Pokémon biomes are released on that day.

Whether there will actually be special Kanto spawns remains to be seen for now. As soon as there is new information about this, we will inform you here on MeinMMO.

You can see the first pictures of the big update in the video:
