Eero Hirvonen succeeded wonderfully in Ruka in the new individual compact competition at the opening of the combined world cup in Ruka. Hirvonen skied 140.5 meters from Suurmäki in Ruka. Hirvonen was as high as third on the hill section. Only Johannes Lamparter jumped further than Hirvonen by half a meter.
The success was handsome in the sense that Hirvonen left Ruka earlier this week due to a family tragedy.
– Dear Eero! Urheilu’s expert and Hirvonen’s personal Petter Kukkonen vented in the newsroom.
– Your lips forcefully curve. Competition jumps like this have not been seen for years. Great performance! Even after all the difficulties this week.
Hirvonen described the situation of going jumping as pressure-free.
– There were no expectations. I wasn’t in Ruka at this time yesterday. I came in the evening and I thought that it wouldn’t matter to go compete, Hirvonen described his own performance.
– There has been relatively steady jumping at Ruka. Sometimes worse, sometimes better. The end result is incredibly good.
Hirvonen described his week as difficult, but the situation in the family is now stable.
– The situation has been getting better. It is also good to continue doing everything normally. Life cannot be completely stopped. I hope I will fight for victory today, Hirvonen described and said that he got the opportunity to compete from a die-hard Urheilustudio follower.
In the Individual compact competition, the differences for the skiing part are made up of rankings, and not points available for the ski jumping performance. Hirvonen starts the 7.5 kilometer cross-country race 12 seconds behind Lamparter and 6 seconds behind the Norwegian superstar Jarl Magnus Riiberia after.
Ilkka Herola also managed well compared to his previous level at Suurmäki in Ruka. Herola flew to 128 meters. Herola was 16th and starts skiing 50 seconds behind the leader. The skiing part starts at 4 p.m.
