This has not been possible since Teemu Selänte! Mikko Rantanen, who made club history, can reach the phantom limit in the NHL

This has not been possible since Teemu Selante Mikko Rantanen

Mikko Rantanen is reaching an achievement that only Teemu Selänne was able to achieve more than 25 years ago. Along with the goal record, the point record is also threatened.

Finnish forward of the Colorado Avalanche Mikko Rantanen is on pace for a 50+ goal season in the NHL.

Rantanen’s two goals in last night’s NHL round brought the striker’s goal tally to 31. Rantanen’s first hit was his 30th goal of the season, making him the fastest goal scorer in Colorado’s club history.

Previously, the club record was held by my club, the athletic director of Colorado Joe Sakic. During his playing career, Sakic only represented Colorado and its AHL club Quebec Nordiques. Sakic reached 30 goals in 44 matches in the 1995–96 season.

– He (Sakic) still has two championships, that separates us, Rantanen commented on the comparison with the NHL in the bulletin (you will switch to another service).

Rantanen reached 30 goals for the fourth time in his career. The Finn has scored 31+25=56 in 43 games this season, and is fourth in the NHL’s goal exchange.

Rantanen will exceed the exceptional 50 goal mark this season if he continues to score at the same pace. Rantanen’s point record 35+56=92. It’s also under threat: if the same pace continues, Rantanen will reach 106 points this season.

The last time a Finnish player scored 50 goals or more was 25 years ago, when Teemu Selänne had 52 hits in 1997–98.

Finnish players scored more than 40 goals in a season last time Patrick Laine, who hit 44 times in the 2017–18 season. Last season Alexander Barkov was 40 goals off the mark when he missed the goal.

of Colorado Artturi Lehkonen broke his single-season point record with two goals. Lehkonen increased his points balance to 12+18=30. The previous record (29) was from the 2021–22 season, when Lehkonen was still playing for the Montreal Canadiens.
