This French village has just welcomed its first birth in

It is an “exceptional birth” for the inhabitants of this small village in France. And for good reason: there had been no childbirth since 1952!

Some towns in France are sometimes far from hospitals and maternity wards. Future mothers must therefore organize themselves and take action on the day of their delivery to arrive there on time. But this November 24, Christina Lambert, pregnant with her third child, is reaching the end of her pregnancy. She feels the contractions getting closer and tries to go to Mulhouse hospital, but the doctors tell her to go home. Despite the distance that separates her from her home, the young woman returns home, with the future father.

Finally, it was in their car that she gave birth to her little girl, in front of the fire station in the village of Magstatt-le-Bas, in Haut-Rhin. Mayor Serge Fuchs tells France Bleu Alsace that he “heard screaming for help (…) We live right opposite the rescue center, that’s when we saw a gentleman asking for blankets. We then saw the mother giving birth in the car.“, he explains.

But what is even more astonishing than this birth like no other is the fact that the village of Magstatt-le-Bas, located in Haut-Rhin, had not seen a birth since 1952! Thus, 71 years later, little Cloé brings happiness to its inhabitants. “We immediately said to ourselves: a birth in Magstatt-le-Bas is exceptional! It was when my secretary inquired about the administrative procedures that she discovered that the last birth in the village dated back to 1952“, continues the village mayor.
