For the seventh year, the American magazine Newsweek publishes its ranking of the best hospitals in the world produced with the Statista site. The 2025 edition lists the best establishments in 30 countries: Germany, Saudi Arabia, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, South Korea, Denmark, United Arab Emirates, Spain, United States, Finland, France, India, Israel, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Norway, Norway, Taiwan, Thailand and United Kingdom. “These countries have been selected on the basis of several comparability factors, such as standard of living, life expectancy, population size, number of hospitals and data availability” specify the authors.
After conducting online surveys with thousands of medical experts (doctors, hospitals and health professionals) and patients, more than 2,400 hospitals were classified with the 250 best hospitals in the world. Among these establishments, we find on the first walk the Mayo clinic (USA) followed by the Cleveland clinic (USA), the Toronto General Hospital (Canada), the Johns Hopkins Hospital (USA), the University of Karolinska (Sweden), the General Hospital of Massachusetts (USA), Charité-Universitätsmedizin Berlin (Germany) (Israel), Singapore General Hospital (India), Zurich University Hospital (Switzerland) … and a French establishment.
France has nearly 3000 health establishments, a little less than half of which are public establishments. Among them, a Universaitre hospital in the AP-HP is recognized as the best French hospital in the world by Newsweek. He arrived in 11th position of the ranking on 250 (it was 8th in 2024 and 2023). This establishment is the Pitié Salpêtrière hospital in Paris. It is, by its size, the first French hospital group. Located in the 13th arrondissement, it consists of 90 buildings housing 77 health services. Salpêtrière Pitié services are recognized in the management of nervous system affections and mental pathologies, cardiovascular pathologies, cancerology, organ and bone marrow, surgery, emergencies and perinatality.
Other health establishments are also present in the Newsweek magazine ranking Like CHU Lille – Claude -Huiez Hospital (26th position), the European Hospital Georges Pompidou in Paris (29th position), the Elsan private clinic – Atlantic Health in Saint -Herblain (71st position), the CHU Bordeaux – Pellegrin hospital group (75th position), the Timone Hospital in Marseille (90th position) or the Saint -Joseph hospital in Paris (104th position).
