This free app wirelessly connects your smartphone to your PC

Use this free application to wirelessly connect your phone to your computer. You will benefit from several very practical functions that will greatly facilitate your daily life.

In our daily use of computing devices, the smartphone now occupies a prominent place, both for entertainment and for work. However, our good old PC also remains an indispensable and more practical tool in many cases. These two devices therefore coexist in our digital life, but it is not always easy to make them communicate and work together.

While Apple has long made integrating iPhones and Macs a priority, things weren’t so simple for Microsoft. Fortunately, the company has become aware of the problem and has stepped up its efforts to allow its users to easily and efficiently connect their smartphone to their PC, thanks to an application integrated by default in Windows: Connected Mobile.

Still relatively unknown and used, this software is a system component available on any Windows PC, which allows you to create a wireless connection between a computer and different mobile devices. To communicate with each other, the devices simply need to be connected to the same local network and the same Microsoft account. And once the connection is established, it is possible to access many very practical functions.

The Connected Mobile application allows you, for example, to read and send SMS messages, make phone calls, check your notifications, or even browse and download photos stored on your phone, all from your PC. Better still, it is possible to replicate the smartphone display on the computer screen, which allows you to use mobile applications with a keyboard and mouse, or to very easily transfer files from one device to another, by simple drag and drop, as you do between two folders in Windows Explorer.

And that’s not all, Mobile connecté also offers other more unusual but equally practical functions, such as automatically extracting the text present on your photos, making your phone ring remotely to find it when you have misplaced it, and even sharing the content of copy-pastes between your PC and your mobile device. The application is also regularly enriched with new tools, and should soon allow you to use the phone’s camera as a webcam on PC, in applications such as Teams or Google Meet.

To take advantage of all these possibilities, nothing could be simpler. On your computer, open the menu To start upsearch for the application Mobile connected and launch it. On first startup, the software will guide you step-by-step to connect an Android phone or iPhone to your PC. On your smartphone, you need to use another application in parallel, called Link with Windows. On Android, depending on your version of the system, it will either be a standalone application to download from the Google Play Store, or a component already installed by default, which you will find in the Settings from your phone, by searching with the words “link with windows”.

Once this initial, somewhat tedious setup is done, your mobile device and PC will be linked, and will automatically connect to each other whenever they are on the same local network, such as your home Wi-Fi. You will then be able to very easily transfer the photo album of your last vacation from your phone to your computer, or enjoy your favorite mobile games from the comfort of your PC’s big screen!
