This detail on your egg carton that no one noticed

This simple tip allows you to store more eggs in your fridge, while saving space.

It happens that several times a year we want to review everything in our interior. Decoration, storage, nothing is excluded. It’s also an opportunity to sort and unclog your cupboards. A good time to rethink your organization and your way of tidying up, both in the house itself and in your refrigerator. Although the idea seems incidental, reorganizing your fridge can be a really good idea. Indeed, a tidy fridge can save time when preparing meals or planning future shopping and could, to a certain extent, limit waste.

But you still have to know how to do it. The first element to take into account when organizing your refrigerator is the temperature zone. The highest shelves are the coldest and the most sensitive products should be placed there such as raw meat, certain cheeses or even prepared meals. The lower levels allow you to store other foods, including bins reserved for vegetables.

The fridge door, for its part, is preferred for the least fragile ingredients, such as condiments, drinks, or even eggs. For the latter, certain refrigerator models have storage grids in the upper part of the door. If this is not the case, the most common thing is to keep them in their original box. There is also a detail on this box that actually allows you to store a few more eggs.

As revealed by “Monsieur tips”, famous for his advice on Instagram and who has 714,000 subscribers, it may be wise to return your carton of eggs. The cavities in the bottom of the box allow you to place a few more eggs depending on the size of the box. A detail in appearance, but which allows you to make room and therefore optimize the space in the fridge. Once empty, it is also possible to intelligently recycle the egg carton while fighting against waste.

By separating the upper part of the box and putting it right side up this time, the holes that usually hold the eggs become perfect supports for the tubes of sauce. Placing the bottles upside down avoids wasting mayonnaise, ketchup, etc.

As for other spaces, the use of containers such as drawers or boxes is an option that guarantees more efficient storage. On condition, however, that the containers are transparent: this way the products are clearly visible and this also limits waste. To combat the latter, product labeling is also a good way to identify foods to consume quickly. It is also recommended to sort the products in your refrigerator by expiration date and place them in a prominent place to be sure that they are cooked as a priority. These can be kept in the same drawer for example. Last tip: keeping a list of products in the refrigerator and sticking it directly on the door is a great help when taking inventory.
