If you want a toilet that always smells good, forget about scented and disinfectant toilet blocks. They are certainly very effective, but not very ecological, they wear out quickly and end up being expensive! We have a very economical and effective solution, which guarantees that your toilet always smells good, thus transforming your daily life. It is simply a matter of making these blocks yourself with ingredients that you probably already have at home.
It is indeed possible to make these blocks with the scent you want, in just a few minutes. The advantage is that it is more affordable than buying them at the supermarket.
For this recipe, you will need 4gr of agar-agar to give the blocks texture, 200ml of water, 150ml of white vinegar, essential oil (lemon, lavender, tea tree or mint), and a tablespoon of liquid black soap (optional), a silicone ice cube mold and an old plastic toilet block. Some recipes also use citric acid instead of white vinegar.
Start by mixing the agar-agar in the boiling water. Remove the pan from the heat and add the white vinegar and black soap. Let cool for 15 minutes before adding 20 drops of essential oil of your choice. Mix well and distribute the preparation in a silicone ice cube tray.
All you have to do is wait for the blocks to solidify at room temperature. You can also put them in the freezer, which will make unmolding easier. Then, unmold the blocks. Slide one into the old toilet block and place it in the bowl of your toilet. Store the rest in an airtight jar, away from heat and light.
You can also use your toilet blocks for the weekly maintenance of your toilets. To do this, nothing could be simpler. Place a block in the bottom of the bowl. Let it dissolve and act for a few hours. Scrub with the brush and flush the toilet. This allows both cleaning and having a deodorizing effect.
