This challenge ensures an absolute world premiere

The procedure at GNTM has been the same for years: The few models who have fought their way forward in the tough competition are allowed to coveted cover shoot for Harper’s Bazaar Shortly before the finale, the candidates have to show whether they have what it takes to shine on the cover of a fashion magazine. Although all remaining participants take part in the photoshoot, only the winner of Germany’s Next Top Model ends up on the cover. This year, GNTM is doing everything differently – and breaking with long-standing tradition.

“I’m blown away!” The cover shooting at GNTM is an absolute premiere

The 19th season of the popular casting show is coming to an end – the finale is within reach. The young models have already survived acting challenges, dance performances and the obligatory nude shoot, and now the next step on the road to victory is upon them: the big cover shoot for Harper’s Bazaar. So far, so ordinary.

The current season, however, has a problem: For the first time, male models are also fighting for the GNTM title. In addition to a female winner, there will also be a male winner who wants to be duly celebrated on a cover. The solution is obvious: A second cover is needed.

According to Harper’s Bazaar, editor-in-chief Kerstin Schneider emphasizes that the shoot is a premiere for the magazine in two ways:

We have never had a male model on the cover of Harper’s Bazaar. And this year there will be two covers.
