For months, a ginger cat suddenly refused to leave his owner and even became very protective of her.

There are some cats that share very strong bonds with their owners. This is often noticeable in the feline’s behavior. They purr in the presence of their owner, follow them from one room to another, watch them busy themselves with different tasks. Some cats also like to curl up on their owner’s lap or sleep next to them as soon as they sit down. This need for physical proximity is generally a clear sign of attachment and trust. But there are also other reasons that push furballs to be so close to the people who take care of them. This is the case of a cat named Simba, whose owner is Carly Wadham, a young English mother.

This red-furred feline was rescued and adopted in Spain several years ago. Since then, Simba has become a special member of Carly’s family, just like the three other cats in the household. Their relationship was pretty ordinary, to say the least, until the day she became pregnant with her second child. At that time, she noticed a drastic change in her pet’s attitude. Interviewed by our colleagues at Newsweek, she explained that Simba had become very protective of her throughout her pregnancy and that he had hardly left her side. This lasted for months and even after the baby was born…

“Simba’s behavior changed even before I found out I was pregnant, which made me very emotional and hopeful about his acceptance of the baby,” Carly Wadham told the outlet. And she was right, because Simba quickly became close to the newborn, named Theo. The day we brought Theo home from the hospital, he was the first cat to approach him and smell him, and from that moment on, he never left his side.”

Today, the duo is closer than ever. “As Theo has grown, he now plays with him. Simba gets upset if he’s not allowed into his bed to nap during the day, and he also becomes protective if someone knocks on our door, as he sits next to him whenever new people come into the house,” detailed the mother. Carly Wadham also posted a video on her Tiktok account (visible at the top of this article) to discuss the very special relationship between Simba and Theo. The video has also gone viral and has been viewed nearly 4 million times. A story as we like them!
