Maids investigate a murder case: This is what Devious Maids is about on Disney+
College professor Marisol Suarez (Ana Ortiz) gets a job as a maid for the wealthy Stappords. The reason: her son Eddie is accused of murdering their maid Flora. Marisol is convinced of Eddie’s innocence and begins her own investigation.
During her research, Marisol meets the maids Rosie Falta (Dania Ramirez), Carmen Luna (Roselyn Sanchez) and Zoila Diaz (Judy Reyes), whose insider knowledge she uses to obtain important clues. The four women not only share their private worries, but also actively begin to solve the mystery of Flora’s murder.
The series, developed by author and producer Marc Cherry (Desperate Housewives), is based on the Mexican telenovela Ellas son la Alegria del Hogar and skilfully juggles elements of mystery, dramedy and soap opera. In 4 seasons, not only dangerous crimes are dealt with, but also the deceitful world of the rich and beautiful is mercilessly exposed.
No one is safe in this murder mystery
The series Devious Maids stands out from the rest of the mystery genre in two ways: Firstly, it is not a classic crime series in which a new case is played out episode after episode. Rather, each season is based on a specific – as yet unsolved – mystery in the immediate environment of the four main characters Marisol, Zoila, Rosie and Carmen.
On the other hand, Devious Maids is less crime than a bitter dramedy, but with a murderous dash of mysteryThis makes the dramatic entanglements of the protagonists all the more fun.

The series is not only worth watching for Desperate Housewives fans
The Desperate Housewives sequel particularly shines with its dark humor and has the ability to offer an exciting mystery without taking itself too seriously. Just like the long-running predecessor series.
In doing so, it effortlessly transports the best of both worlds – mystery and dramedy – to the screen. At the same time, Devious Maids takes a downright satirical delight in to dismantle the over-the-top parallel universes of the American upper class.
The main characters may seem a bit stereotypical at first, but as their investigations progress they reveal their strengths and weaknesses and quickly grow on you.
If you like to solve dark puzzles but also want to have a laugh, this series is especially recommended. Devious Maids premiered on June 23, 2013 on the US channel Lifetime and all four seasons are available with a Disney+ subscription.
