After carefully scrutinizing their collections, the jury focused on brand credibility and its eco-responsible message through the clothes presented. “It’s important to have a holistic approach to sustainability, you shouldn’t focus on just one important thing. The style of the brand is also crucial, so that consumers are inspired by the brand.“, commented Cecilie Thormark during the award ceremony. For Laura Coppen: “there were three essential points: a sincere and authentic statement on the subject of sustainability, the circularity of products (longevity, recyclability, upcycling) and collaborations throughout the production chain so that the products are the most eco-responsible possible“.
Three brands, one reward
It is Stammthe signature of Elisabet Stamm, who won the 2023 Zalando sustainability award. As a key, a check for 20,000 eurosas well as creation of a collection with the e-commerce platform based in Berlin. His parade, presented to rhythmic music, mixed, in a neutral palette quilts leather, aliens printed on cropped T-shirts, sheer petticoats and fleece jackets. These are in particular these pieces, padded with recycled down, and the clothes made from a traditional Indian textile hand-spun from organic cotton, the Khadi, which caught the jury’s attention. “Winning this award will allow us to expand our network and continue to work for positive change.“said Elisabet Stamm after receiving her award.
The claw Selam Fessahaye has, for its part, made a strong impression on the guests at its parade. The Swedish designer imagined her collection using fabrics taken from her latest creations and upcycled vintage pieces. To lively music, his models walked the catwalk dressed in colorful clothes. Rhinestone coats, ruffled dresses, deconstructed pants, world map printed sets… A lively and joyful fashionbut above all ultra stylish.
TG Botanical presented a more cerebral line, strongly inspired by nature. Ancestral dyeing techniques, natural materials and muted colors made up the label’s collection, with long 90s tube skirts, cozy knits and crop tops in popcorn material.
If Selam Fessahaye and TG Botanical left empty-handed, the two labels were noticed by the public and should continue to be talked about. To be continued…
