In France, there are little corners of paradise that give us the impression of being at the end of the world. Large rocks with mystical shapes, beaches and coves of fine sand, turquoise and transparent water… No, we are not in the Seychelles, but indeed on the Coast of Legends.
Welcome to this coast preserved from mass tourism. The Côte des Légendes in Finistère in Brittany is home to a quiet, family-friendly seaside resort, made up of white sand beaches with picturesquely shaped rocks, letting the imagination wander… Its lighthouse surrounded by a pile of rocks, which is around 15 metres high on the Pointe de Beg-Pol, is a joy for the eyes, as if it had been painted on a canvas. Photography enthusiasts will not fail to take lovely photos of the Pontsuval lighthouse and the surrounding landscape.
The beach, on a human scale, can be discovered at low tide, to discover its strangely shaped granite blocks, bathe in its translucent waters, or practice fishing on foot on the lookout for shrimps, crabs, cockles, periwinkles and even flatfish. Water sports enthusiasts will be delighted: kayaking, windsurfing, catamaran, sand yachting or even scuba diving are all activities offered by the nautical center.
The bay has more than just this magical beach to offer. The Christianized menhir of Men Marz (miracle stone) balances on the ground. At 8.50 meters high and weighing 80 tons, it is one of the largest in Finistère. The Pol chapel, built in granite and framed by a cross, a superb calvary and a sentry box that served as a watchtower, is yet another wonder for photographers. Finally, walkers have plenty to do in the Goulven nature reserve, the Keremma dunes and the GR 34 that runs along the coastal path. You will be amazed by the jagged coast and these beautiful natural panoramas.
