Belgian Jasper Philipsen won his third victory in this Tour de France by winning the 16th stage in a sprint on Tuesday, July 16, 2024 in Nîmes, where the Eritrean green jersey Biniam Girmay fell in the final, 1.5 kilometers from the finish, and was thus unable to join the battle. Slovenian Tadej Pogacar retains the yellow jersey with a 3’09 lead over Dane Jonas Vingegaard and 5’19 over Belgian Remco Evenepoel at the end of a day run in intense heat. With this third success in this 111th edition, Jasper Philipsen equalizes with Biniam Girmay, who retains the green jersey and crossed the line a little later, visibly not too affected.
