On June 6 this year, a fire started in a cowshed at the popular open-air museum. Initially, there was a risk that the fire would spread to buildings, but the staff managed to put out the fire before the emergency services got there.
And as recently as October, another incident occurred, when a storage building near the Solliden restaurant was completely destroyed by fire. However, the fire did not spread to any nearby buildings. The police suspected that an electrical fault could be behind it.
“Very unfortunate”
Yvonne Nordling regrets that there have been several fires, but still believes that the safety procedures are working.
– It is very unfortunate. But we have patrols and round-the-clock surveillance with a quick action program when something does happen, she says.
Investigates any deficiencies
Skansen will investigate Saturday’s fire to review whether there were any deficiencies in fire protection and whether any measures are needed.
– When something like this happens, we review our routines. We are extremely happy that it has not actually spread. But we always need to work on developing security work, says Yvonne Nordling.
