Brantford police say they have made a third arrest as part of an investigation of cocaine and fentanyl trafficking.
Police said 21-year-old Brantford man was arrested Tuesday following a search of a Courtland Drive address.
Police said they seized a loaded 9mm firearm with ammunition, 38 grams of suspected cocaine with an estimated street value of $3,810, 3.5 grams of suspected fentanyl with an estimated street value of $1,400, a digital scale, drug packaging materials and Canadian currency.
The man is facing multiple trafficking and weapons charges.
Earlier this month, police said they seized more than $1 million in drugs and arrested two Brantford men in the culmination of a two-month investigation dubbed Project Menace.
Police said that, with help from Six Nations police and Guelph and OPP tactical response units, raids were conducted at homes in Brantford on Diana Avenue and St. George and Gray streets and in Brant County on Papple Road.
As a result, police said they seized crystal methamphetamine, cocaine and fentanyl with an estimated street value of nearly $1.2 million, two loaded handguns, a switch-blade knife, two motor vehicles, an estimated $200,000 worth of jewelry and prescription medication.
The investigation began in early fall. Cocaine and fentanyl were being sold in the city and throughout southwestern Ontario, police said.
Police said they charged a 27-year-old man and a 24-year-old man. Each face multiple trafficking and weapons charges.
The younger man is also charged with breaching a recognition order.
