Tall stature is usually among the desired features. Various methods are being tried to get taller. Although genetics related to neck length and sports done during growth have the greatest impact, nutrition is also closely related to height. Researchers have found that eating large amounts of certain foods may be associated with growth retardation.
FOODS THAT CAUSE SHORT HEIGHT
SOY
Studies show that children who consume soy milk and other plant milks have a lower height than those who consume cow’s milk. This is because soy prevents the body from processing calcium: the growth-inhibiting effect comes from phytic acid, which is also found in tofu, yogurt, and soy milk. And calcium is necessary for healthy bone growth, so don’t overdo soy and don’t give too much to your child, either.
RICE
The finding may be surprising because we see rice as a fundamentally healthy food, but that doesn’t apply to every amount! If the developing body gets too much rice, it will provide it with carbohydrates, but not enough protein and vitamins.
FAST FOOD
Consuming such things all the time is harmful in many ways: in terms of growth, mostly because they are food. A child who constantly eats french fries will not reach their potential height.
ACID BEVERAGES
The high phosphorus content makes these drinks really dangerous: Phosphorus has a detrimental effect on bone density.
SWEETCORN
This too might be a surprising item on the list: It doesn’t inhibit growth per se, but in the youngest children it can be contaminated with growth-inhibiting aflatoxins.
