Think about this before Christmas

Think about this before Christmas

At the beginning of December, the Swedish Tax Agency went out and informed about the trade before Christmas. In connection with this, a clear appeal was also directed to the public who are in the Christmas trade. They want more people to ask for a receipt when you buy everything from pats, food and decorations.

“Christmas is just around the corner, trees are to be bought and Christmas presents are to be bought! Remember to take a receipt for a nice Christmas shopping and a competition on equal terms. Sellers with a smaller turnover do not need to have a cash register, but everyone must be able to offer you as a customer a receipt. Even if you pay with Swish, you must receive a receipt. The payment in the app only shows that the money has been transferred, but it does not mean that the purchase has been entered into the cash register. Take receipt – for a nice Christmas shopping”, they wrote on their social media.

Thieves can strike at Christmas shopping

During the month of December, however, it is not only trade that increases its turnover. The proportion of thieves who strike at unsuspecting Christmas shoppers also try to find opportunities to strike.

News24 has previously written about the increased risk that Christmas shopping entails. When you are inside and shopping in department stores, malls and shopping centers, the thieves take the opportunity to get into cars to steal belongings, Christmas presents and other things.

Now the authority has once again urged the public to act before Christmas. This time, however, it is not about requesting receipts for every purchase. Instead, they are aimed at you who are moving before Christmas.

“Help Santa find his way this Christmas! Register your move quickly, easily and free of charge in the Swedish Tax Agency’s e-service. And for those of you who live in an apartment, remember to enter the correct apartment number in your move notification. More about what you need to think about when moving, see link in profile”, they now write in another post on social media, including Instagram.

It is important to report the move to the Swedish Tax Agency

On the Swedish Tax Agency’s website, they then write more about what you who are moving in December should think about, in addition to everything you have to do with the move.

“During Christmas time, Santa Claus knocks on the door in many houses and homes around Sweden. That Santa finds the right address is probably high on many people’s wish lists – even here at the Tax Agency,” they write.

If it is the case that you are moving to a new residence, you need to file a moving notification with the Swedish Tax Agency so that you get the correct civil registration address, where all mail goes.

– Notifying your move to the Tax Agency costs nothing. Keep in mind that you need to register before you move or no later than one week after the move, says Cajsa Torestenin the public and real estate department of the Swedish Tax Agency, in one press release.

The authority believes that it is particularly important to fill in the correct information in your relocation notification – which is free of charge. And if you live in an apartment, the correct apartment number must be stated.

The call is aimed at those who are about to move due to the processing time which may possibly be delayed, especially at Christmas time.

Therefore, it is important that you also think about everything around you, such as:

  • apply for housing allowance at the new address,
  • take out home insurance at the new address,
  • sign an electricity contract at the new address,
  • and take out an internet subscription that is valid in your new home.
