If Ubisoft has decided to put an end to the development of Splinter Cell VR and Ghost Recon Frontline, the French publisher is on the other hand putting the package on Assassin’s Creed, one of its flagship series whose future will be discussed at the start of the school year, presumably during the Ubisoft Forward which will take place on September 10 at 9 p.m. In the meantime, we have to be content with the rumors circulating on the Web, the latest from our colleagues at Kotaku. According to them, an episode codenamed “Project Red”, and open-world oriented, is currently in development. If they are not able to confirm that the adventure will take place in Japan – as Jeff Grubb recently indicated – Asia would indeed be the next land that the series will tread, the country of the Rising Sun having even is the subject of long internal discussions, especially because fans have been asking for it for years.

In reaction to Kotaku’s paper, Jason Schreier (Bloomberg) indicated that “Project Red” would be an integral part of Assassin’s Creed Infinity, the famous game-service platform on which other opuses to come will be added. Without going into details, Ubisoft confirmed last year that Assassin’s Creed Infinity would be the result of an ambitious collaboration between Ubisoft Montreal (Assassin’s Creed Valhalla) and Ubisoft Quebec (Assassin’s Creed Odyssey).

Finally, let’s not forget Assassin’s Creed Rift which, still according to Jason Schreier, should take place in Baghdad and not among the Aztecs. The game would mainly focus on Basim Ibn Ishaq and would essentially offer gameplay mechanics based on infiltration. Its release would be set for the first half of 2023.
