by Camilla Richardsson preparation for Sunday’s half-marathon did not go according to plan at the European Athletics Championships in Rome. Richardsson’s belongings were stolen from the back of the rental car.
– Let’s see if I have to run the half marathon on Sunday with leather shoes or if I can get new shoes, Richardsson told Finnish journalists at a media meeting.
– The last 24 hours have been spent trying to get some clothes, a new passport and a bank card, everything. I styled everything I own in the back there.
Richardsson said that he took a rental car on Thursday and put all his things in the trunk when he went for a run. When he arrived back, the trunk was empty.
– I don’t know how they (thieves) got it open. The police said they could open it without breaking anything, Richardsson said, hoping his insurance was fine.
Richardsson said that he had been in contact with his shoe sponsor. According to him, getting new competition shoes seems promising, but he may not have time to test them beforehand.
Richardsson ran the Finnish half-marathon record of 1:09.54 in Barcelona in February. In addition to him, Finns compete in the half marathon Alisa Vainio. The competition will take place on Sunday from 10:30 am.
