Thierry Jousse when music makes its cinema

The journalist and former editor-in-chief of Cahiers du Cinéma, Thierry Jousse, publishes an illustrated book with EPA-France Musique, both fascinating and educational, on the Original Soundtracks of the history of cinema. More than 300 pages taking the reader on a musical journey from the golden age of Hollywood to contemporary blockbusters.

Sometimes, film music sets up an atmosphere, a dreamlike or frightening atmosphere. Sometimes, she situates the action in a country or in an era, through instruments or rhythms that bring us into a culture or a universe. Often, it bursts the screen, it even becomes inseparable from the image, and participates fully in the memory that a film leaves us. In cinema, music is one of the elements of staging. The soundtrack of a feature film is a whole art that has long been despised, and which has finally conquered its letters of nobility.

Journalist, critic, and director, Thierry Jousse offers us today a wide panorama rich in archival documents. His book ” BO! An Illustrated History of Music in Cinema is co-published by EPA-France Musiques.
