Thierry Breton very annoyed if Marine Le Pen could not

Will Marine Le Pen be able to stand in the presidential election? The president of the group of deputies of the national rally will be fixed on her fate on Monday in the file of European parliamentary assistants of the RN. The former European commissioner at the internal market Thierry Breton said he was “very bored” if Marine Le Pen was sentenced to an immediate sentence of ineligibility and could not therefore appear in the presidential election of 2027.

“There is a very large number of our French fellow citizens who find themselves in the words and the fight of Marine Le Pen and personally, I will be very bored, and the word is weak, if it could not present itself to represent them,” noted this Sunday, March 30 Thierry Breton, guest of the Grand Jury RTL-Le Figaro-Public Senat-M6.

The former European Commissioner also wanted to recall the law. “The Sapin 2 law was voted in 2016 and Marine Le Pen did not oppose it. And it is this law which gives judges the power, possibly, to ensure that, if there has been an offense, that there is ineligibility, including immediately,” recalls the former minister of Jacques Chirac. “It is not the judges who invent it, it is the parliamentarians who voted it.”

For his part, Gabriel Attal estimated this Sunday on Radio J that “if provisional ineligibility is decided, it is that justice considered that it was the right sanction in the face of facts that it qualified”. “In a moment like the one we cross where we see it all over the world, democracy is attacked, the rule of law is attacked, I would never mix with the concert of those who seek to delegitimize the judicial institution,” said the former Prime Minister, now at the head of the group of Renaissance deputies.

Marine Le Pen says he is confident

In November, the prosecution requested a five -year penalty for provisional execution against Marine Le Pen (immediately applying immediately even in the event of an appeal), in addition to five years in prison, including two farm and 300,000 euros fine. Monday’s judgment could therefore upset his political career and prevent him from presenting himself in 2027.

Officially, Marine Le Pen is however confident. The deputy for Pas-de-Calais “does not believe” that the judges will go so far as to pronounce an ineligibility sentence with provisional execution against him. “I read here and there that we would be feverish. Personally, I am not, but I understand that we can be: with the provisional execution, the judges have a right of life or death on our movement,” commented the leader of the RN in La Tribune on Sunday. “I don’t think they will go so far,” she added. “I’m always serene about the things I don’t have to take,” Marine Le Pen also said at TF1-LCI This Sunday.

According to an Ifop survey For Le Journal du Dimanche Published on Saturday, if a presidential election was held today, Marine Le Pen would lead the first round with between 34 % and 37 % of the voting intentions, depending on the candidates facing her.
