Thief uses chainsaw to steal Port Stanley welcome sign OPP

Elgin OPP are looking for leads after a thief used a chainsaw to chop down a pricey municipal sign marking the entrance to Port Stanley.

The theft of the sign valued at $8,000 was reported to police on July 11, Elgin OPP said Monday. It appears someone used a chainsaw to cut the supports for the sign on Sunset Avenue that says The Village of Port Stanley, police said.

Anyone with information about the theft is asked to call Elgin OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
