While investigating the theft at a service center in St. Thomas officers were notified the vehicle had been abandoned west of the city. Its keys and license plates were missing, police said.
Trespasser rail charged
A St. Thomas resident was charged after CN police asked St. Thomas police for help in removing a person from CN property.
The train was stopped when officers arrived, and train staff said the person was in one of the train cars, St. Thomas police said.
Police located the person. A 43-year-old was charged with trespassing under the Railway Safety Act.
Railways and property surrounding them are private property and people who enter without permission could be fined $500, police said.

Following an alert from a social media company that triggered a police probe, a 24-year-old Windsor man is facing child exploitation charges.
Officers with the Windsor police internet child exploitation unit began an investigation Tuesday after receiving information about possible child sex trafficking from the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children in the United States, police said.
Police say a social media company reported a possible child sexual abuse attempt by its users.
The suspect was located and arrested on Wyandotte Street East. Officers seized evidence, including electronic devices, police said.
The 24-year-old is charged with making child pornography and arranging a sexual offense against a child by telecommunication.
