Thibaut Courtois missing from Belgium’s Euro 2024 squad

Carlo Ancelotti confirms Thibaut Courtois return to Real Madrid

After his recent return from a long injury, goalkeeper Thibault Courtois is absent from Belgium’s list for Euro-2024 in Germany, unveiled Tuesday May 28 by coach Domenico Tedesco. Pillar of Belgium for the past decade, the 32-year-old goalkeeper suffered a rupture of the cruciate ligament in his left knee in August 2023, which, combined with a torn meniscus in March, caused him to miss most of the season. The coach has chosen who will be the number 1 goalkeeper between Koen Casteels (Wolfsburg), Matz Sels (Nottingham Forest) and Thomas Kaminski (Luton) but confided that he must first speak with them. To prepare for the Euro which begins in mid-June, Belgium will face Montenegro on June 5 and Luxembourg on June 8. The Red Devils are in the affordable Group E with Slovakia, Romania and Ukraine.
