On Thursday, the company Freja Offshore submits an application to the government to build a wind farm off the coast of Blekinge, reports P4 Blekinge.

The application concerns the building of roughly 130 offshore wind turbines five kilometers southeast of Karlskrona.

Freja Offshore’s CEO Magnus Hallman tells the radio that a wind turbine of the size the company wants to build could strengthen electricity production in south-eastern Sweden quite strongly.

The armed forces have previously said no to the establishment of wind turbines off the coast of Blekinge. But Magnus Hallman believes that their project can be approved.

— As an example: If we can stay below 300 meters in terms of size, we know that we do not affect the low-flying zones of the defense forces, he says.
