According to the news in the Greek media, US Deputy Secretary of State Victoria Nuland, who came to Athens to hold talks, met with Greek Defense Minister Nikos Panayatopoulos.
REJECTED OFFER: “GREECE CANNOT COMPROMISE ITS OWN DEFENSE CAPACITY”
Nuland expressed his satisfaction with Athens’ contribution to Ukraine and suggested that Greece supply additional weapons to Ukraine. “Greece cannot compromise its own defense capacity,” Panayatopoulos said. He indirectly rejected this offer with his statements.
Greek media reported on March 17 that Athens refused to provide additional military aid to Ukraine.
The Ukrainian side investigated the possibility of sending TOR-M1 type and OSA-AK type anti-aircraft systems with old Soviet technology, which are within the Armed Forces of Greece, to Ukraine without any official request, but did not receive a positive response from Greece.
While it was stated that there was no demand for S-300 missiles in Crete, it was argued that Greece, which sent Kalashnikovs and rocket launchers to Ukraine in the first days of the war, followed the line of the European Union (EU) emphasizing a diplomatic solution. (AA)
