In the written statement made from UNRWA’s X account, information was given about the situation in Rafah. In the statement, it was noted that 1 million Palestinians migrated from Rafah to different parts of Gaza in the last 3 weeks, wanting to escape the attacks of the Israeli army.
“THEY HAVE NOWHERE TO GO”
It was stated that these people, who had nowhere safe to go, escaped from the ongoing attacks.
Drawing attention to the food and water shortages, the statement emphasized that it is becoming almost impossible to provide aid and protection to Palestinians in Gaza with each passing day.
WHAT HAPPENED?
In its statement on May 20, UNRWA reported that more than 810 thousand Palestinians had to leave Rafah in 2 weeks, where the Israeli army continued its attacks.
On May 7, the Israeli army announced that it had seized the Gaza side of the border gate with Egypt by launching a land attack on the Rafah region of Gaza.
Despite the precautionary decision of the International Court of Justice, Israel bombed the tents of displaced Palestinians in Rafah on May 26, and it was reported that at least 45 Palestinians, including 23 women, children and the elderly, lost their lives and 249 Palestinians were injured in the attack.
