Admir and Ervina Krdjic are two of the approximately 150 people who were affected by the large fire in a residential building in Norrköping last night.
– It feels very strange, empty. Everything has burned down, says Ervina Krdjic to TV4 Nyheterna.
During the fire, which is said to have been caused by an explosion, people had to leave their apartments in chaotic conditions.
– People have had to leave their homes and just jump out on the stairs without taking so much with them. We have to prioritize among the needs and it takes a while to go through, says Tony Georgson, the municipality’s standby officer, to TT.
Many of the evacuees gathered in nearby Matthew’s Church, which serves as a gathering place.
“It’s very heavy”
For Admir and Ervina Krdjic, it was a shock that the apartment burned down.
– Our whole apartment.. Everyone says you can buy new, but no, we can’t buy everything, all the memorabilia, it’s not possible. It is very heavy, says Ervina Krdjic as she stands outside Matthew’s church in Norrköping.
In photos and videos from earlier in the day, large flames could be seen erupting and smoke billowing from the roof of the property. Parts of the roof have also collapsed onto the property. A total of eight people have had to be taken to hospital.
