The exercise, which was held at the NAF Jurmalciems Military Aviation Training Ground in Nica Parish town in Southern Kurzeme, Latvia, will continue until 15 June.
The exercise, held in the Baltic Sea, aims to train RBS-70, GROM, STINGER and AVENGER short-range air defense systems experts and to prepare new experts by making practical combat shots on air targets.
300 SOLDIERS PARTICIPATE
A total of 300 soldiers from the Latvian Air Force, the Land Forces Mechanized Infantry Brigade, the National Guard, and the Lithuanian, Czech and US Air Defense Forces are participating in the exercise. The exercise is supported by the Latvian Naval Forces Command and the Supply Ship A-90 Hero, while the Coast Guard ship KA-14 Astra is also present in the exercise.
Unlike previous years, the “Baltic Zenith 2022” exercise was combined with the international integrated air defense tactical exercise “Ramstein Legacy” and the combat shooting exercise “Ramstein Arrows” organized by the NATO Air Force Command this year. (AA)
