They braved the cold – when Annie Ernaux signed books

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

The queue was more than 100 meters long when the Nobel laureate in literature, Annie Ernaux, came to Söderbokhandeln in Stockholm to sign books.

Despite the cold, many people waited outside the bookstore on Götgatan, where Annie Ernaux came to sign books on Wednesday. Those queuing stood a couple of people apart and yet the queue stretched over 100 meters away.

– This is an author I have followed for a long time, says visitor Lisa Wacklin.

The bookstore sent out a question about a book signing and “ended up right”. But only a couple of days ago did they receive confirmation that Ernaux would indeed come. Now they have uploaded a large stock of books in Swedish, French and English. The first readers started queuing at noon on the day.
