The changes in 2025 that affect your wallet
News24 has previously reported that 2025 will bring happy news, nothing less than tax cuts. The taxes that are reduced include the employment tax deduction, tax for pensioners and tax on ISK savings.
This means approximately SEK 375 more in the pocket for a single household with a monthly salary of approximately SEK 34,000. But high income earners who earn around SEK 53,000 can get SEK 1,400 more in their wallet every month.

But 2025 will also bring changes that do not benefit everyone. Among other things, a year is expected with rent increases, an average of five percent, which can hit students, families with children and the unemployed hard, reports Today’s PS.
At the same time, the temporary increase in housing allowance for families with children disappears. The contribution was increased in 2022 as a result of the high inflation. There are approximately 120,000 households that have taken part in the grant, and they received an average of SEK 750 more in their wallets, says the Riksdag’s homepage.
The purchasing power of the unemployed and students is expected to decrease by SEK 450 a month compared to January last year.
