The police were called on Monday to a home in Hässleholm because a man had abused a woman.
The man also allegedly started a fire in the home.
– According to what we know now, some type of flammable liquid must have been poured and sprayed out and then ignited, says Rickard Lundqvist, spokesperson for the police.
The woman who was in need of treatment was taken to hospital. The man, who is 35 years old, was arrested on suspicion of arson and assault.
– He was arrested a short distance from the scene, says Rickard Lundqvist, press spokesperson at the police.
The fire must have been extinguished when the police arrived at the home. But the police must have found traces of a fire.
– The emergency services have not been on site. The fire was able to be extinguished before it developed, but it still burned and given the circumstances, it is being investigated as arson, says Rickard Lundqvist.
