Fraudsters who want to earn money illegally through social media platforms were trying to attract the attention of citizens with their posts on social media. With the developing technology, artificial intelligence has also been involved in the fraud network. Fraudsters prepare videos shared on social media with the voice and image of the stolen video owner with artificial intelligence and include them in the fraud system, thus enticing their closest ones into their network. When the fraudsters cannot find the video they are looking for, they victimize citizens by including videos of celebrities in their own system.
With the use of artificial intelligence, fraudsters’ systems have improved in the form of video montage of celebrities’ faces and images of political figures, Forensic Computer Specialist Lawyer Emre Akman said, “Today, with the development of artificial intelligence, unfortunately, the potential of fraudsters to increase their fraud methods has also increased. If we look at it from this perspective, fraudsters victimize citizens by using fraud methods such as fake voice, fake video and fake websites. Therefore, when we look at it, with the use of artificial intelligence, the faces of celebrities, images of political figures, faces are video montage. Citizens are called with this prepared voice recording or video and are then lured into a trap and then money is demanded. At this point, even if citizens do not know anything about artificial intelligence, they need to take into consideration the classic messages sent to their mobile phones, such as the police, soldiers, prosecutors will not call you. At this point, a political figure, police chief, any prosecutor or any celebrity will definitely not call you and ask for money from you. If you have encountered this situation and the voice of the person talking to you is a figure you know, the other person is probably trying to scam you. At this point, you can report the phone number calling you to the nearest police station to your address and file a complaint against them to get rid of the scammers.
At this point, the development of artificial intelligence, although positive, has a negative side. Because this is a study aimed entirely at gaining benefit. Fraudsters, especially using the faces and voices of powerful political figures, send phishing (baiting) methods to citizens via e-mail, WhatsApp or social media and ask for loans to be taken from them, money to be withdrawn from their credit cards or the money and investments in their accounts to be sent to them. As we mentioned, citizens should go to the police station and complain when they encounter this situation. To reiterate, no celebrity or political figure will call you and ask for the money in your pocket. At this point, our citizens need to be informed,” he said.
“THIS IS A FRAUD SYSTEM THAT IS NOT IN TURKEY BUT WORLDWIDE”
The aim of the scammers is to make the person they are going to victimize fall into the fraud network more easily with greater fear, Forensic Computer Expert Akman said, “When we look at this situation, citizens, this is a fraud method that is not only in Turkey but also worldwide with the artificial intelligence method. People who are scammed lose millions in this regard. Because think about it, a political figure is calling you, for example, by giving your name and saying ‘your name is involved in such and such an incident and we demand something from you’, they want to create a greater hegemony of fear by including big names. At this point, as we said, video is already becoming a more well-known situation, not video, but there are systems that are done with the phone. In these systems, it can be called from the desired number. In other words, 155, 112 or any number you want, a special number to convince the other party, and the victim’s voice is called from that number and the fraud is carried out with artificial intelligence.
People who know you very well or have illegally obtained your information can also use the voices of your relatives. For example, someone has posted an image video on social media platforms and their voice is visible there, they are heard talking. These people can call you with the voice of the citizen, your relative, through artificial intelligence and ask for money. This is a very normal situation. When you encounter such an incident, I recommend that you hang up on whoever called you and call that number again to confirm. If the number you confirmed is not really in this situation, you should file a complaint with the police station closest to your address, as we have just mentioned.

Akman finally said, “When citizens complain, the other party naturally has hiding methods. When these methods are reached, this is a crime committed by the other party using information systems through qualified fraud. A lawsuit is filed in the high criminal court for qualified fraud and this case is heard. We recommend that citizens definitely complain when they encounter such situations.
