Swedish or foreign, pop, rock, rap or country? What will be the big songs that dominate the summer of 2024?
The music experts seem to agree that Sabrina Carpenter and Benjamin Ingrosso will be the winners.
Mari Hesthammer is music editor at Sweden’s Radio P3. She highlights three songs that the channel believes will be the biggest hits of the summer: “Espresso” by Sabrina Carpenter, “Honey boy” by Purple Disco Machine and Benjamin Ingrosso and “Million dollar baby” by Tommy Richman.
The channel also believes that Molly Sandén’s and Håkan Hellström’s new songs will be hits this summer.
Music editor Morgan Storesund Skarin reveals in “P3 Summer Mix” that in addition to Carpenter and Ingrosso, the country song “A bar song (tipsy)” by Shaboozey will be on the summer soundtrack. The song has been played extensively since it was released last spring.
Country pop
Robert Sehlberg, music manager at Riks FM, begins by mentioning the Swedish artists who are expected to reach the summer sky.
Benjamin is red hot in 2024. His new song “Look who’s laughing now” released on Friday is a priority worldwide. Molly Sandén is hot, more than ever.
But he also highlights the country pop rock that has reached new heights recently.
Country pop rock has escalated over the year. Beyoncé has made this genre mainstream. Cowboy hats and cowboy boots have never been hotter, he says.
He believes in Shaboozey’s “A bar song (tipsy)” and Dasha with the song “Austin (Boots stop workin’).”
Dasha is tipped to be the next Taylor Swift.
C Gambino
Spotify predicts that the recently deceased rapper C Gambino’s “Last Song” has a place among the most streamed songs of the summer.
The music service also places “I had some help” by Post Malone and Morgan Wallen on the list of expected skyrocketing streams. In addition to Carpenter and Ingrosso, Spotify believes that “Marathon” by Miss Li and Eah Jé, “Helluva life” by Hov1 and “Stargazing” by Myles Smith will go on repeat for the summer activities.
