Every day, over five million Swedes are employed by going to work.
Do you have challenges to carry out your tasks in the best way? There are certain requirements the employer must meet in order for you to have the right conditions to perform the daily work. Namely, they have an obligation to provide you with what is required to carry out the work.

Do you work in front of a computer screen, get tension headaches and sore eyes? Then it may be that you need terminal glasses, which the employer must pay for by law.
Stephen Farrelly works as a trade union and labor law adviser at Unionen. In an interview with News24 He explains that there are certain basic conditions your employer must ensure you have in place.
– There are of course several things to take into account. It is difficult to give a sweeping figure as we are all individual people with different conditions and needs, he says and adds:
– If there is something you need in the position, first of all when it comes to the tools to be able to perform your tasks, then you have the right to support. Everything from computer, headphones and possibly other needs that need to be covered.
Then you have to change your profession – and then you will find your dream job

Farrelly also emphasizes the importance of having a straight dialogue with your employer in order for you to get help, but that it can sometimes be a cost you have to cover yourself.
– If you feel that you have work that contributes to problems, you must first of all have a dialogue with your employer and then get help to cover the cost of a basic implementation. If, for example, you would like to have spekish frames, it is something you will probably have to pay for yourself.
How much cost does the employer cover?
According to Farrelly, it is on a case-by-case basis, where the starting point is that the company should not apply special measures based on cost limits or ceilings. Instead, a man should find out what needs you as an employee might have, and then it’s not about kroner and ören in the first place.

There are also other ways to get help and support to be able to do the work you are hired to do. In the event of illness or disability, you may be entitled to work aids from The insurance fund.
That support is slightly different from the requirements the employer has to assist you with the right conditions. This as you need to meet requirements set by the authority.

If your employer instead is the one applying for a grant for work aids, they must always pay SEK 10,000 for the aid themselves.
