These stars became famous on the music channel VIVA

Today music television seems completely out of date. In the streaming era, no one wants to watch music videos on TV at set times anymore. But in the 90s things looked different: the music channel VIVA initiated a real revolution on German television. Gone were the days of stiff TV entertainment; instead there was to see young, fresh faces, each with their own unique talents. Some of these moderators later became really famous. We introduce them to you.

These stars became famous after their time at VIVA

Mola Adebisi

Mola Adebisi is one of the most famous VIVA faces ever. He started out in the 90s as “Käpt’n Mola” and thrilled the masses with his relaxed manner. As a black presenter, Adebisi was an absolute pioneer on TV. Sad: To date, representation on private television leaves a lot to be desired. Mola was last seen in the first Allstars season of the jungle camp.

Stefan Raab

Do we even need to say anything more about this unique TV career? The entertainer with the strikingly white teeth is one of the most famous faces on German TV. With shows like Schlag den Raab or TV total, Stefan Raab shaped private television like no other. (You can read about his incredible career here.) Hardly anyone talks about his beginnings these days: Raab actually only wanted to compose program jingles for VIVA, but he was promptly invited to a casting as a presenter. The rest is history.

Gulcan Kamps

She was simply everywhere in the early 2000s: Gülcan Kamps is one of the most famous VIVA faces ever. The Lübeck native became known for her funky, bubbly nature. Her talent: speaking, without periods or commas. Things were quiet around the TV star for a long time, but she recently returned to The Traitors – Trust Nobody! back on television.

Oliver Pocher

Everyone knows Oliver Pocher – but whether you’re happy about it is a matter of taste: the comedian has been attracting attention for years through polarizing media provocations. At the end of the 90s he started his career at VIVA, after which he enjoyed a meteoric rise as a comedian and presenter. Despite all the scandals, he is still successful on TV today.

Klaas Heufer circulation

Joko and Klaas are THE faces of ProSieben. Today the two are extremely successful as a duo, but Klaas’ career originally began on music TV. He started at VIVA in the mid-2000s. After that, things went uphill: Klaas and Joko really shook up the German TV world as a humorous duo. There is still no end in sight. Both are still extremely popular with audiences.

Charlotte Roche

Charlotte Roche has had one or two scandals behind her. Already at VIVA it was clear that Roche confidently conveyed her opinions to the world – she has remained true to this attitude to this day. But she became really famous as a scandal author. She landed a bestseller with the disgusting novel Wetlands, which was successfully made into a film in 2013.

Heike Makatsch

Heike Makatsch has been famous as an actress for so long that hardly anyone remembers her beginnings on TV. (Read more about her meteoric rise to Hollywood darling here.) Makatsch was one of the first VIVA presenters ever and immediately became a TV darling as a cheeky blonde. After smaller film roles, Makatsch became a full-time actress and even made a detour to Hollywood. She was in a relationship with Bond actor Daniel Craig for many years.

Daniel Hartwig

Hard to believe: TV legend Daniel Hartwig got his start at VIVA. The presenter then went across the TV. Probably his best-known job: From 2013 to 2022 he hosted I’m a Star – Get Me Out of Here alongside Sonja Zietlow! and thus succeeded comedian Dirk Bach.

VIVA is dead: The music station is no longer relevant

Unfortunately, the glory days of music television are long gone. The demand for music on TV fell sharply after services like YouTube became increasingly popular in the late 2000s.
